Professor Dr. med. Konstantinos Mantsopoulos was born on 14 October 1979 in Thessaloniki, Greece. He completed his medical studies in July 2003 at the Faculty of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Following his military service and the initial phase of his specialty training in Greece, he continued his residency in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in July 2007 at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the University Hospital Erlangen, one of the largest ENT departments in Germany, under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Heinrich Iro.
He was awarded the degree of Dr. med. with the distinction magna cum laude in December 2010. In July 2012, he completed his specialist training after successfully passing the examinations of the Bavarian Medical Association.
In March 2014, he was appointed Senior Physician (“Oberarzt”) at the same department. In July 2016, he completed his habilitation and was granted the title of Associate Professor (“Privatdozent”) in Otorhinolaryngology, with the thesis entitled: “Reduction of surgical invasiveness in the treatment of benign tumors of the parotid gland”.
In August 2022, he was appointed Full Professor of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg.
Professor Dr. med. Konstantinos Mantsopoulos holds advanced specialization in head and neck ultrasonography, certified by the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (DEGUM), having obtained—following formal examinations—the highest qualification level (Level III, “Kursleiter”), which authorizes him to independently organize and conduct postgraduate training courses in this field. He has further acquired subspecialty certification in facial plastic surgery (“Plastische Operationen”) after successful examination by the Bavarian Medical Association. In addition, he is subspecialized in Medical Oncologic Therapy for patients with head and neck cancer (“Medikamentöse Tumortherapie”), including independent indication assessment and administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies (such as monoclonal antibodies and enzyme inhibitors), as well as comprehensive supportive care. This training was completed at the Department of Radiation Oncology of the University Hospital Erlangen (Prof. Fietkau) and formally certified by the Bavarian Medical Association. He also holds official certification, obtained through examination, from the German Society for Aesthetic Botulinum Therapy (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ästhetische Botulinum-Therapie e.V.).
Since December 2022, he has been practicing as a private ENT specialist in Thessaloniki, Greece. Since May 2025, he has also been serving as Assistant Professor at the 1st Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
